Reading Books

Within the school day we teach specific Guided Reading sessions. Children will work with the class teacher at least once a week in their groups to read, comprehend and discuss a book or novel chosen for them. The children will be expected to read independently or on a 1 to 1 basis for the rest of the week, in addition to completing some question based tasks within their Guided Reading journals. 

Children will also have a home reading book. The books will only have a small element of challenge as these books are designed to expand various genres and develop a love for reading independently. Please listen as regularly as possible to your child whilst they read these books and talk about what they have read. Please keep the home reading book in your book bags and when completed we will endeavor to change them as soon as possible.
