Welcome from the Chairman

Hello and a warm welcome from the Board of Governors at Withnell Fold Primary School. My name is Helen Norman and I currently have the honour of being the Chair of Governors here.

The Governing Body is made up of volunteers, a staff governor and the Headteacher. Volunteers are drawn from parents of pupils at the school, members of the community and those nominated by the Local Authority and play a vital role in setting the strategic vision and ethos of the school. We monitor and challenge the school's performance, linked to teaching and learning, deal with financial planning and ensure statutory duties, such as Safeguarding and Health and Safety, are carried out, acting as a professional body at all times to ensure continuous school improvement.

Having been a member of the Governing Body for several years, in both parent and co-opted roles, I have seen first-hand the dedication, effort and care that goes into providing the best possible opportunities for every child to progress academically, socially and emotionally. The school mission statement, 'Reaching potential, rising to challenges and respecting all' applies to all of us involved with Withnell Fold and we will continue to strive towards those goals and rise to the challenges that will no doubt face us.
